THE TRUTH
Updated: Nov 10, 2022
If I had two say it's been a hell of a couple of years for most of us. Well today it come's to a end for me, and I get back to work! Today I look at something different then talking about who passed (God knows there is a few) who has a number one hit or who's new on the music scene. Today it's a chat I had with someone I would have never in my wildest dreams think I would have run into in the middle of nowhere. I had met him once before in a club in Calgary Alberta Canada when I stopped by to check out this RiseUP TV thing I have seen on Facebook. (www.bigrecords.world) After talking with some of the artist I decided it was time to hit the road but first I thought I would take some pictures of the Tour Bus and maybe someone coming off the bus would be cool thing for my article. Needless to say, I was a little more than shocked later that the fellow that not so politely asked what the (I will leave that to your imagination) I was doing, was one of the most well- Known names in the independent music world and I did not figure it out until later.
And here I am freezing my butt off filling the tank witch I'm sure will cost me the children I still do not have and there he was again. This time I wasn't going to miss the chance.
We met along the way at a coffee shop, and I got the chance to just talk to Don Pearse 'the man that has truly brought independent music to a whole new level, about music and where he thinks it's going.
With a bit of a laugh, he said it depends what side of the fence you are sitting on. For the big labels or streaming companies, it's great but for the independent artist not so good. The music business has and always been a place where there is someone there to help you with your dreams and take every dream and smash it at the same time. But then again there's a lot that are truly there to help you just have to find them and there's more bad ones than good ones that is for sure.
You started your own media company and turned it over to independent artist ... why? I think the answer is fairly simple, Artist needed a place where they could come and meet artist and work with each other support one another. Jim might know something Jill might not and that's what it is all about. If an independent artist looks at what we have done, we have put some of the best minds in the music industry together not just here in North America, but worldwide from independent labels to studios, producers even Radio and TV.
We have now partnered with BIG RECORDS and Riseup TV along with tracking experts like Black Mountain Music & Media and independent radio station like our own Kat Kountry and Kat Power Hit Radio and our sister country station in Elkton Virginia Cherokee Nation Radio. There is where these Artist need to also pay a little more attention to is internet radio it's the future of radio just like mainstream radio there are more internet stations out there then you think and with the cost of satellite radio and streaming these days why would it not be the next big thing, you're already paying for data why not use it.
I sit here now as I try and get back into the swing of being back at it, I think of our chat that day and can't help but think that if I had someone like that in my corner it might have been the difference in my choice of careers. You can find Don on his morning radio show on Kat Kountry 9 am mountain (www.pearsemediagroup.com) our on one of his syndicated shows worldwide. It was a great chat that day and to think he's got me thinking maybe it's not too late for me. That night I did something I have not done in a long while I picked up my guitar and that is one thing, I thought I would never do, and thanks to Don I will be sharing this little Blog to you .
